SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.— The Skidmore men's basketball team overcame a 10-point deficit over the final 2:46 for a 63-62 win over Rensselaer at the Sports and Recreation Center. With the victory, the Thoroughbreds improve to 6-11 overall and 1-5 in Liberty play, while RPI moves to 9-8 and 3-3.

The Red Hawks opened a 59-49 lead when Skidmore's Bobby Langford (Worcester, Mass.) started a 12-0 Thoroughbred run when he scored on a lay-up with 2:46 to play. Langford scored five of the 12 points, while Jeff Altimar (Medfield, Mass.) hit a three and Terron Victoria (Albany, N.Y./Bishop Maginn) had a free throw and capped the run with a three of his own with :33 to play to make it 61-59.

RPI regained the lead when DJ Blakemore (Bloomfield Township, Mich.) went the length of the floor for a lay-up to tie it 61-61 with 23 seconds left. He was fouled and injured on the shot, so Jeremy Bull (Woodbridge, Va.) sank the go-ahead free throw to give the Red Hawks a 62-61 lead.

Altimar got the winner for the Thoroughbreds on a lay-up when he converted a pass from Gerard O'Shea (West Sand Lake, N.Y./Averill Park) with 14 seconds to play.

Langford led all scorers with 18 points off the bench. He also had seven rebounds, three blocks and four steals. Altimar finished with 12 points and seven rebounds. Jake Shechtman (Wynnewood, Pa.) added nine points, going 3-4 from three-point range.

Mike Brion (Nashua, N.H.) had 13 points and seven boards for RPI. Sam Simmons (Newburgh, N.Y.) had 10 points and four assists.

Skidmore will host Vassar tomorrow (4pm), while the Red Hawks visit Union (4pm).
