FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Anchorage men's hockey team used a 25 save performance from goaltender Jon Olthuis to earn the 3-0 victory over Rensselaer, Friday afternoon at the Carlson Center. The Seawolves scored two first period goals and added a second period tally in the victory of the first game of the Brice Goal Rush.
Alex Gellert opened up the scoring for Alaska-Anchorage (2-1-0) at the 17:16 mark for his first collegiate goal with assists from Mickey Spencer and Kane Lafranchise to make the score 1-0 after one period of play. Josh Lunden got on the board 5:19 into the second period on an assist from Kane Lafranchise before Kevin Clark closed out the scoring at the 2:29 mark with assists from Nick Haddad and Tommy Grant.

Allen York (Westakiwin, AB/Camrose Kodiaks) who saved 24 of the 28 shots he faced. Both
Peter Merth (New Westminster, BC/Burnaby Express) and Marty O'Grady (London, ON/Wellington Dukes) blocked three shots as the Engineers blocked 20 as a team. RPI had an opportunity to cut the lead in the second period when Alaska Anchorage took a five minute major for checking from behind but the Seawolves were able to hold off the Engineers.
The Engineers won 34 of the 57 faceoffs (60%), while the Seawolves outshot RPI 27-25. RPI takes on #17 Alaska-Fairbanks tomorrow night (10:35pm).
