TROY, N.Y. - The Rensselaer men's hockey team and RPI United collaborated on a Teddy Bear Toss and Toys for Tots collection at Saturday's game and in excess of 550 teddy bears and toys as well as over $400 in cash was collected. All the donations were donated to Toys for Tots.
Fans were asked to make a contribution for those in need during this holiday season. There was the Teddy Bear Toss, in conjunction with Turfer Athletic, as well as the toy collection. RPI United, a student-run
organization, teamed up with the United States Marine Corps Reserve, and hosted the event. Members of the school spirit group staffed a table where they collected new, unwrapped toys as well as cash and checks in lieu of toys. Those who contributed were entered into a raffle for a jersey signed by the entire team.
