SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Sophomore Taylor Inman (Sugar Land, TX) scored 1:07 into overtime to give Rensselaer a 5-4 Liberty League men's lacrosse win over Skidmore College at Wachenheim Field.  The Red Hawks have now won four straight games to improve to 5-3 overall and 3-0 in the Liberty League.  The Thoroughbreds fall to 5-3 and 0-2.

Skidmore took a quick 2-0 lead in the first quarter on Jacques Ward's (New York, NY) goal at 13:48 and Nick Coppola's (Basking Ridge, NJ) 11th goal of the season at 12:46.

Nick Billy (Redding, CT) got one back for RPI at 6:21 before the Thoroughbreds closed the quarter when Tom Levesque (Duxbury, MA) fed Rob Lutin (Port Washington, NY) for his 18th goal of the season with 44 seconds to play to make it 3-1.

Levesque opened the second quarter with his sixth goal of the season at 12:08 for a 4-1 Skidmore lead. It would be the final goal of the game for the Thoroughbreds.

RPI was content to patiently control the ball on offense for most of the quarter, until Paul Cerone (Ridgefield, CT) broke free to score a wrap-around goal with 1:34 to play in the half.

After a scoreless third quarter, Cerone made it 4-3 with 4:34 to play in regulation.  Andrew Miller (New Hartford, NY) tied it from Billy with 2:37 left.

Both teams had chances in the final minutes, but Skidmore goalie Flip Bongaerts and Red Hawks stopper Ryan DeJordy (Albany, NY) each came up with big plays to send the game to overtime.

In the overtime, freshman Brian Larkin (Florham Park, NJ) won the opening faceoff to give RPI possession.  After working the ball around, Billy passed it to Inman, who was able to connect from about 15 yards out for the winner.

DeJordy had five saves, all in the second half.  Bongaerts finished with 12 saves and five ground balls.

Billy led the Red Hawks with a goal and two assists.  Larkin won eight of 13 face offs and had five ground balls.

For Skidmore, Levesque had a goal and two assists.  Scott Grillo (Wellesley, MA) had two ground balls and three caused turnovers and Cory Barkoff (Woodbury, NY) had six ground balls.

The Thoroughbreds are at Williams on April 7, while RPI is at Clarkson on April 4.
