PURCHASE, N.Y. – Rensselaer netminder Alex Penny stopped five shots as the men's soccer team battled to a 0-0 double overtime draw against Drew University in the Valliant Classic at Manhattanville College. The Engineers remain undefeated on the season, moving to 3-0-1 overall, while the Rangers are now 0-1-4.

Both teams had a number of opportunities to score early in the contest, with RPI holding a slight lead in shots, 4-3.

Engineers' midfielder Lincoln Field (Contoocook, NH/Hopkinton) had the game's best chance when he was awarded a penalty kick, but Drew goalie Jeff Rogers made the one-on-one save to preserve the tie.

The teams played through two 10-minute overtimes, but were unable to claim the win. RPI held the slight advantage in shots (11-7), while the Rangers held the edge in corner kicks (9-8).

Field led Rensselaer with three shots in the contest, while three other players Four Engineers had two shots each, including senior defenseman Kevin Swift (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa).

The men's soccer team opens the home portion of its schedule on Tuesday when they host Oneonta State on Renwyck Field (6:30pm).
