TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's hockey team is ranked 20th in the nation, according to the latest USCHO.com Men's Poll. The voters of the poll consist of 28 coaches from the Division I conferences and 22 beat writers and sports professionals from across the country.

Rensselaer, under fifth-year head coach Seth Appert, is off to a 3-1-2 start, including a current five-game unbeaten streak (3-0-2). The Engineers' three victories, which have come over Atlantic Hockey foes, include a shutout of Bentley (3-0), as well as a pair of wins against RIT (4-3) and Niagara last weekend. Both of the ties have come on the road at Colorado College (2-2) and Northeastern (2-2).

RPI, which is 16th in this week's Inside College Hockey.com Power Rankings, is led offensively by the senior duo of Chase Polacek (Edina, MN/Academy of Holy Angels) and Tyler Helfrich (Calgary AB/Prince George Spruce Kings), who each have three goals and four assists for seven points.

Sophomore Nick Bailen (Fredonia, NY/Indiana Ice) is ECAC Hockey's top scoring blue liner, netting a goal with four assists for five points. Freshman Brock Higgs (Kingston, ON/Kingston Voyageurs) is third amongst ECACH rookies in scoring with five points (3 goals, 2 assists).

Junior netminder Allen York (Wetaskiwin, AB/Camrose Kodiaks), who has started all six games for the Engineers, leads the nation in minutes played with 370:38. He is fifth in the country with a 1.62 goals against average and fourth with a .943 save percentage.

The Engineers face area-rival Union College in a non-league contest on Saturday (4pm) in Lake Placid, N.Y., the first game of the Lake Placid Showcase. Fellow ECAC Hockey foes St. Lawrence and Clarkson will face-off in the night-cap (7pm).

Saturday's game, as well as all Engineers' hockey games, can be heard live on WRPI, 91.5 FM, and online at www.wrpi.org.
