Six Tally Multiple Goals in Men's Lacrosse Victory

Engineers defeat Southwestern, 18-3

GEORGETOWN, Texas - Senior midfielder Conor Chocheles scored five goals with two assists to lead the Rensselaer men's lacrosse team to an 18-3 victory over Southwestern University.  Chocheles was one of six Engineers to score at least two goals as #12 RPI opened leads of 14-0 and 18-1.  Rensselaer improves to 3-1, while the Pirates fall to 3-5.

The Engineers scored five goals in the first quarter, four in the second and nine in the third on their way to victory.  In pacing the charge, Chocheles (Babylon, NY / Babylon) now has 12 goals and 12 assists for 24 points in four games to lead the team in all three categories.

Others with multiple goals on the day were sophomore Eric Valero (Princeton Jct., NJ / W. Windsor Plainsboro), who scored three times and senior Nick Billy (Redding, CT / Joel Barlow), who had two goals and three assists.

Junior Andrew Miller (New Hartford, NY / New Hartford) added a goal and two assists and Wes Rudy (Doylestown, PA / The Hill School) scored twice with an assist.

Four goalies combined to make five saves for the Engineers, who saw starter James Manchester (Niskaynua, NY / Niskayuna) earn the win.

For Southwestern, two goalies made nine saves apiece, while Jamie Long had a goal and an assist.
