ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The RPI men's basketball team ran and pressed its way to an easy victory on Tuesday night, topping Liberty League newcomer Bard College, 103-69.
Fifteen players scored for the Engineers, led by junior
Chris Almodovar (El Paso, TX), who finished with 13 points. Sophomore
Sean Dempsey (Wallingford, CT) added 12, while
Jamie Zajac (Merrimac, NH) and
Brendan Farley (Burlington, MA) contributed 11 points apiece.
The Engineers, 6-7 overall and 3-2 in the Liberty League, led 51-29 at halftime and pulled away even more in the second half. They outrebounded Bard 59-41, forced 31 turnovers and made 17-of-44 three-pointers.
Next up for RPI is St. Lawrence University, on the road, on Friday (8pm).
Bard (3-9, 1-3) got 24 points from Matt Shubert (West Chester, PA), and 10 points and 13 rebounds from Siondueh Burnette (Lakeville, MA.) The Raptors visit RIT on Friday (8pm).
