NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior Marty O'Grady scored two goals less than four minutes apart in the third period, while classmate Bryce Merriam made 45 saves to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's hockey team to a, 2-1, victory over Yale University, this evening at Ingalls Rink. With the win, the Engineers improve to 6-17-1 overall (3-8-1 ECAC Hockey), while the Bulldogs drop to 8-9-2 (5-6-1 ECACH).

Merriam (Bethel Park, MD/Topeka Roadrunners) came up big for the second straight night, stopping all 27 shots he faced through two periods of play, before adding 18 more in the third.

O'Grady ripped a shot into the top left corner of the net at 5:45 of the final period to put the visitors ahead 1-0. Classmate C.J. Lee (Staten Island, NY/Green Bay Gamblers) intercepted the puck in neutral ice and carried in to the Yale zone, before dropping a pass back to O'Grady in the slot. O'Grady then beat Bulldogs junior netminder Jeff Malcolm (Lethbridge, AB/Quesnet) blocker side.

Rensselaer made it 2-0 at 8:59 of the frame, when O'Grady scooped up a loose puck at the edge of the Yale crease and flipped it over Malcolm for his third goal in two games. Lee once again earned the primary assist, with sophomore Pat Koudys (Smithville, ON/Burlington Cougars) earning the secondary.

With less than two minutes to play, the Bulldogs lifted Malcolm for an extra attacker and took advantage, as senior Kevin Limbert (Fruitvale, BC/Trail) slipped a shot through the legs of Merriam to pull within 2-1. Junior Andrew Miller (Bloomfield Hills, MI/Chicago) and freshman Tommy Fallen (Plymouth, MN/Cedar Rapids) picked up the helpers on Limbert's second of the season.

The Engineers are back in action next weekend, when they host St. Lawrence and Clarkson on Friday (7pm) and Saturday (7pm), respectively, at the Houston Field House.
