With the win the Saints improve to 5-4 overall (2-0 Liberty), while the Engineers drop to 4-6 (1-1 Liberty).
A lay-in by freshman Brady Condlin (Massena, NY/Massena) followed by a three-pointer from junior Kyle Miller (Central Square, NY/Central Square) gave the visitors a 13-6 lead, 4:30 into the game.
Senior Matt Pooley (Middletown, NY/Chapel Field Christian School) kept the Engineers close by hitting a pair of threes, including one with 9:21 to go in the first half, which made it a one-point game (15-14). After classmate
Matt Dixon (Troy, NY/Tamarac) gave RPI a brief lead on the next possession, Parham (Petersburg, VA/Indian River) drilled a three-pointer to put the Saints back on top by two.
Ralph Temgoua (Paris, France/Deerfield Academy) hit from long-range to push the St. Lawrence advantage to 23-18, and then converted on a lay-up a few minutes later, which pushed the lead to eight (26-18).
Back-to-back scores by RPI junior
Chris Almodovar (El Paso, TX/Immanuel Christian School) and sophomore
Nick Keefe (Renssealaer, NY/Columbia) brought the hosts to within four (28-24), but a Parham three at the buzzer sent the Saints to the break with a seven-point edge.
The Engineers fought their way back to even (40-40), less than five minutes in the second half, thanks in part to three-pointers from Pooley and sophomore
Nate Fiala (Willoughby, OH/Gilmour Academy). St. Lawrence sophomore Brandon Rivera (Queens, NY/Monsignor McClancy) put the visitors up for good on the ensuing possession.
Parham extended the Saints lead to, 72-56, the largest of the game, with 3:40 remaining in the second half. A late run by the Engineers cut that in half, but sophomore Al Jones (Newark, NJ/Morristown Beard) sank a pair of free throws in the final minute.
The Engineers return to the court next weekend, when they host area-rivals Union and Skidmore on Friday (8pm) and Saturday (4pm), respectively. St. Lawrence is back in action on Tuesday, when it hosts Clarkson (8pm).
