ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Three players scored in double figures and the Rensselaer women's basketball team won its sixth straight game, 75-56, over Liberty League foe RIT. The Engineers, who got a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds from senior
Hillary McKinley, improves to 15-7 overall and 9-4 in the league. The Tigers fall to 9-12 and 5-7.
RPI went on a 12-2 run in the middle of the first half to to take a 14-point lead. The Engineers led by as many as 21 points in the first half, but a mini 5-0 run by RIT to close out the half made it a 16-point deficit.
The Enginners opened the second half on a 9-1 run and led by as many as 27 points in the second half.
Sarah Wetmore led RPI with 21 points and seven rebounds.
Hillary McKinley added 16 points and 10 rebounds, while
Jen Rock scored 12.
RIT responded with a 13-2 run, cutting the Rensselaer lead to 61-45 on a pair of free throws by Jess Kramer). She finished with 12 points, while Leslie Havens scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds.
RPI held RIT to 36.8 percent from the floor on 21-of-57 shooting, including just 3-for-14 from behind the arc. The Engineers held a 42-28 edge in rebounding.
