SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Union College men's basketball team shot 61 percent from the floor in the first half to open a big lead at the break and the Dutchmen went on to a 90-72 victory over Rensselaer in a Liberty League game at the Viniar Athletic Center. Union improves to 12-2 overall and 4-1 in the conference. The Engineers fall to 7-6 and 2-2.
The Dutchmen led 61-38 at halftime by making 22 of 36 shots, including 4 of 11 from three point range and 13 of 17 from the free throw line. Defensively Union held RPI to just 37 percent (14 of 38) shooting overall and 29 percent (6 of 21) from three-point range, while outrebounding their guests, 26-14.
Senior Keven Donohue led all scorers with 19 points on 7 of 12 shooting. He also had six rebounds. Terell Winney added 14 points (5 of 7) with four rebounds and Evan Croll scored 12 points.
RPI senior
Daniel Martin had a team-high nine points with two rebounds at halftime.
Donohue finished with 27 points and eight rebounds, while Winney scored 17 points with five rebounds. Croll had 16 points and Joe Mason added 13 points and a game-high 11 assists.

Jamie Zajac led the visitors with 14 points.
Brendan Farley finished with 10 points and a team-best seven rebounds, while Martin had nine points and four rebounds at the game's conclusion.
The Engineers travel to league foe Vassar College on Tuesday. Union plays at Bard College on Friday in a league matchup. Both games begin at 8pm.
