ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute men's basketball team got off to a hot-shooting start and never looked back in a decisive 77-51 victory over Bard College in a Liberty League game on Tuesday night.

The Engineers, who have won five straight games, improved to 14-9 overall, 9-5 in the Liberty League and remain right in the thick of the playoff hunt.

RPI came out pressing and shooting threes and had a 12-2 lead after four minutes on 4-of-5 shooting from three-point range. It was 24-5 midway through the first half, and although Bard did cut the deficit to 16 twice in the second half, the game was never in doubt.

RPI was led by senior Brendan Farley (Burlington, MA), who had 13 points, and senior Daniel Martin (Cohasset, MA), who had 10 points, four rebounds and four blocked shots. The Engineers host Union in a crucial Liberty League game on Friday night at 8pm.

Bard (4-20, 1-15) got 13 points from junior Lamar Powell (West Orange, NJ). The Raptors finish the season with a non-league game at home on Friday against Berkeley College of New Jersey.
