CANTON, N.Y. - Rensselaer's Tyler Gendron and Daniel Martin combined for 43 points to lead the Engineers to a come-from-behind 86-82 win in overtime over St. Lawrence University in Friday night's Liberty League contest in the Burkman Gymnasium.  The win moves the Engineers to 7-5 in the conference and 12-9 overall, while the Saints fall to 7-6 in the conference and 9-13 overall.   

Martin broke the game's final tie with a free throw with 3:03 left in overtime, and then scored RPI's next four points to give his team a 79-75 lead with 2:19 left in overtime.  After St. Lawrence junior Al Jones took the ball the length of the court and brought the Saints back to within one on an old fashioned three-point play, Gendron pushed his team back up by four with a 3-pointer with :41 seconds left that the Saints couldn't overcome. St. Lawrence didn't get closer than within two the rest of the way, as Jamie Zajac made 4-of-6 from the line in the final :30 to close the scoring for the Engineers.   

Gendron and Martin combined for 11 rebounds, while Brendan Farley added 14 points and five rebounds. Sophomore Brady Condlin had a team-high 22 points for the Saints, while Jones finished with 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists, and senior Kyle Miller had 16 points and six rebounds. Junior Janpeter Brase added 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Saints.
 
St. Lawrence, which led by as many as seven points in the first half before taking a 24-30 lead at the half, opened the second stanza with an 8-2 run to take a ten point advantage at 17:48.  RPI, however, kept within striking distance with the help of its 3-point shooting, and with under 5:00 minutes left, came up with two quick baskets to cut St. Lawrence's lead to 66-61. 

A three by Grendron with 3:33 left cut it to two before Daniel Martin made a pair of free throws to tie the game for the first time since the opening half.  Martin came up with a block on the defensive end before Farley made a pair of with 1:50 left to give his team a 68-66 lead. 

After a St. Lawrence time out, Condlin made a jumper to tie it back up at 68-68.  RPI had two chances to take the lead, but SLU came up with the defensive rebound.  Condlin had a layup in traffic at the buzzer that didn't fall, sending the game into overtime.  
St. Lawrence had 21 turnovers in the game, while RPI had 11.  The Saints shot 52.8% from the field and RPI shot 41.1%.

The Saints will host the Dutchmen of Union tomorrow afternoon in the Burkman Gymnasium, while the Engineers head to Clarkson to take on the Golden Knights.  Both games are slated to begin at 2:00pm.
