TROY, N.Y. -
Mike Zalewski scored twice and
Mark McGowan and
Matt Neal both picked up three assists to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's hockey team to a 6-2 win over Brown University in Game 2 of the best-of-three ECAC Hockey Quartefinals at Houston Field House. The win by the Engineers, who improve to 18-13-5, forces a decisive third game on Sunday at 7pm. Brown, which won the first game, 3-1, falls to 14-13-6.
Zalewski scored his two goals at 5:59 and 8:38 of the third period to give Rensselaer a three-goal cushion, 5-2. His first came when he walked out from behind the goal line and scored under senior Anthony Borelli (Grand Island, NY), and his second - and 11th of the year - was on a rebound off a rush up the ice. McGowan (Toronto, ON / Oakville Blades) had assists on both goals, while Neal (Minesing, ON / Stoufville Spirit) picked up his third assist of the game on RPI's fifth marker, which chased Borelli.
Senior

Johnny Rogic (North Vancouver, BC / Alberni Valley Bulldogs) had the assists.
Following a scoreless first period, the teams combined for five goals in the second period, three by the Engineers. RPI scored the first two goals, a CJ Lee (Staten Island, NY / Green Bay Gamblers) drive from the left faceoff circle at 5:39 and a Curtis Leonard (Napanee, ON / Wellington Dukes) slapshot from the blue line under four minutes later (9:09).
The Bears tied it up with two goals of their own within four minutes of each other. Leading scorer Matt Lorito ripped a slap shot past freshman goalie
Jason Kasdorf (Winnipeg, MB / Des Moines Buccaneers) for a power play goal at 12:14 and Chris Zaires scored shorthanded at 16:40. Lorito's goal was his 19th of the season.
Sophomore
Jacob Laliberte (Rockland, ON / Cornwall Colts) put the home team back in front with a power play goal with just 29 seconds left in the period, finishing a feed from Neal. The assist was the second of the night for Neal, who leads the team with 22 helpers.
Kasdorf finished with 27 saves to improve to 14-4-2 on the season. Borelli (12-8-5) finished with 27 saves on 32 shots in 48:38, while his replacement, Marco De Filippo (Auronzo Di Cadore, Italy), had four saves on five shots.
