Men's Lacrosse Wins Fourth Straight, 13-5

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Senior Brett Overend scored five goals and added an assist to lead the Rensselaer men's lacrosse team to a 13-5 victory over New England College. The win was the fourth in a row for the Engineers (4-3), who got two goals and two assists from Colin Fortuner. Travis Armiger won 16 of 20 faceoffs and added a goal. 

RPI opened a 6-0 lead, scoring four times in the first quarter and two in the first nine minutes of the second quarter. Overend had three of the goals, while Fortuner had a goal and an assist. NEC scored three of the final four goals of the half for a 7-3 score at the break.

Armiger re-set the tone for Rensselaer when he started the second half by winning the face-off, scooping up the ground ball and scoring unassisted just eight seconds into the third quarter. NEC scored four minutes later, but Fortuner and Overend (twice) struck before the frame expired for an 11-4 lead. Scott Crow scored the final two goals of the game for the Engineers.

Four goalies saw action for RPI, which saw James Manchester earn the win. Cody Kitson took the loss for the Pilgrims, who got two goals from Matt Goyette.
