	SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.— Rensselaer posted a 2-0 non-league win over New Paltz in the rain Friday evening in the first game of the Liberty League-SUNYAC Challenge at Skidmore College's Wachenheim Field. The Engineers improve to 4-1, while the Hawks drop to 0-3-1.  in predetermined pairings, RPI will play Potsdam on Saturday (4 pm) and New Paltz plays Skidmore (6:30pm)
	
	All the scoring came in the first half. RPI struck first when Pat Noonan one-timed a shot from the edge of the box from Tyler Kessler for his first goal of the season at 19:26. RPI took a 2-0 when Esmir Hadzic flicked a cross from Tim Terrezza to Alex Dotseth who converted for his first goal of the season at 36:20.
	
	The Engineers had an 11-3 shot and 8-3 corner advantage.
	
	Rob Dewald had one save in goal for RPI for his second shutout of the season. It was a key save in the 79th minute off a corner, when he directed a shot over the crossbar.  Steven Domino had two saves for New Paltz.
