TROY, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's basketball team scored 63 second half points, aided by eight three-point baskets, and the Engineers defeated St. Lawrence University (SLU), 100-75, in a Liberty League contest at East Campus Arena. The Engineers, who had four student-athletes reach double-digits in points, improve to 3-8 overall and 1-1 in the league. The Saints fall to 4-6 and 1-1.

RPI took its first lead of the game at 33-32 with 2:25 left in the first half and held a 37-34 edge at the break. The two teams traded baskets for the first three minutes of the second half before the Engineers went on a 17-7 run to take an 11-point lead (60-49) lead with 11:52 to go in the second half. Rensselaer made three three-point shots in that sequence, highlighted by a trey from senior Reggie Colas (Miami, FL / Belen Jesuit) with just under 12 minutes to play.

A pair of layups from St. Lawrence junior Brady Condlin (Massena, NY / Massena) pulled the visitors to within seven points (60-53), but a four-point play on a made three-pointer and a foul shot by junior Josh Dugas (Monroe, CT / St. Luke's) pushed the RPI lead back to 11 points. St. Lawrence would get no closer as the Engineers' hot shooting continued throughout the remainder of the second half.

RPI made 57.1% of its field goals (24 of 42) and three-points shots (8 of 14) in the second half, outscoring the Saints, 63-41. Overall, Rensselaer was 38 for 85 (45.9%), including 10 for 27 (37.0%) from behind the arc. The Engineers forced 32 turnovers, 17 on steals.

Thirteen players got on the scoresheet for RPI, led by freshman Jonathan Luster (Essex, CT / Valley Regional), who had 15 points in 14 minutes. He made 6 of 8 shots, including a pair of three-pointers. Colas and Sean Dempsey (Wallingford, CT / Notre Dame), who had three treys, both had 11 points and sophomore Jesus Cardenas (Phoenix, AZ / Apollo) scored 10 points.

For SLU, which made 26 of 47 shots (55.3%) in the contest, senior Payton Stahler (Canajoharie, NY / Canajoharie) had a double-double of 12 points - on 6 of 9 shooting - and 11 rebounds. Condlin finished with a game-high 17 points and five rebounds.

The Engineers return to the court on Tuesday at league foe Bard College (8pm), while the Saints host Clarkson University on Tuesday at 8pm in a Liberty League contest.
