Ashley Clough scored 20 points to lead the Engineers to a 75-54 win over Bard in a Liberty League women's basketball contest. RPI improves to 3-9 overall and 1-2 in the league, while the Raptors are now 1-9 and 0-1.
Clough (West Chesterfield, NH) scored 16 of her 20 points in the second half as Rensselaer gradually pulled away. The victory snapped a six-game losing streak for the Engineers.
A 10-2 run over the last 1:52 of the first half gave Rensselaer a 31-28 halftime lead, and the visitors shot 45 percent from the floor in the second half, led by Clough and Lynch (Middletown, NY), who scored 15 points in the second half. Her seven rebounds were a team-high.
Bard (0-1 Liberty League, 1-9 overall) got 23 points and 18 rebounds from sophomore Tytravia Riley (Miami, FL), and 12 points and six rebounds from sophomore Bianka Bell (Stamford, CT).
Up next for RPI is a Liberty League game at Skidmore on Friday night at 6. Bard hosts RIT on Friday night.
