Men's Basketball Has Win Streak Ended

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The RIT (9-5, 3-2 Liberty League) men's basketball team held off Rensselaer (9-5, 3-2 Liberty League) 109-103 Friday evening in Liberty League action from Clark Gym.

Kamron Davis was one of five players to score in double figures for the Tigers, tallying 22 points. Jameel Balenton added 20 points, while Brendan Reinert scored 16 points. Gabe Nicasio chipped in 12 points and JP Reagan scored 14 for the Tigers who shot 54.8 percent from the floor on 40-of-73 shooting. RIT made 12-of-26 three pointers and were 17-of-25 from the foul line.

Tyler Gendron and Chase Almond led the Engineers with 17 points apiece. Reggie Colas scored 16 and Nick Keefe tallied 13 for the Engineers. RPI shot 40 percent from the floor on 30-of-75 shooting. Rensselaer went 9-of-30 from behind the arc and were 34-of-45 from the foul line. 

Leading 50-43 at halftime, RIT led by as many as 21 points in the second half, before a late run by the Engineers cut the score to six points. Rensselaer outsocred the Tigers 22-8 over the final 4:06 to get within six points.

Rensselaer will face Hobart College tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m. in Geneva, N.Y. RIT will host Skidmore College at 4 p.m. on the floor of Clark Gym. The Tigers will be honoring and taking donations for Wounded Warriors of Rochester. Come and join us as we honor those that fought and lost their loves for our freedom.
