THE KICKOFF
 Rensselaer's annual Family Weekend features today's Liberty League football game between the Engineers (4-3; 2-2 Liberty League) and the eighth-ranked Statesmen of Hobart (6-0; 3-0 Liberty League).

THE ENGINEERS TO DATE
RPI began the season with a non-league win at Norwich, 29-9 ... Week two was the home opener, which saw the Engineers suffer a 34-31 loss to Alfred ... Following a 41-13 win at Castleton, Rensselaer began its Liberty League slate with a 27-6 victory over WPI in the Transit Trophy Game to improve to 3-1 ... The Engineers won their fourth game in five tries with a 45-14 win at USMMA on October 4 before dropping their last two contests, 24-10 to St. Lawrence and 34-20 at Rochester last week.

RECORD SETTER
Senior kicker Andrew Franks had field goals of 25 and 29 yards at Rochester last week to become the school's all-time leader in career FGs with 33 ... Matt Verenini '04 came into the season with the school record, which was 31.

THE STATESMEN TO DATE
The No. 8 Statesmen, who are coming off a bye, began the season with a 33-21 win over Dickinson before making back-to-back trips to Eastern Massachusetts ... They beat Endicott (28-18) and Curry (43-13) and then opened the league schedule with a home victory over Merchant Marine (42-7) ... Wins over WPI (28-14) and Springfield (37-7) improved Hobart's record to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Liberty League ... The Statesmen are ranked eighth in the nation according to both D3football.com and the AFCA. 

THE SERIES
RPI and Hobart have played 57 times and the series is deadlocked, 28-28-1 ... The first meeting was October 15, 1910, a 6-5 Statesmen victory in Troy. In the last 10 meetings between Rensselaer and Hobart, the Statesmen hold a 7-3 advantage, including a 3-1 edge in Troy. 

CLOSE CONTESTS
In the seven games between 2005 and 2011, Hobart outscored RPI by only 20 points (190-170). Six were decided by one score, including four games by three points or fewer.

LEAGUE PLAY
Rensselaer is 8-11 (.421) in Liberty League play against the Statesmen.
