Box Score TROY, N.Y. -- Jimmy Vesey scored twice to lead Harvard to a 4-0 win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in ECAC Hockey action on Friday evening at Houston Field House. The Engineers drop to 3-6-0 overall, 2-1-0 in conference play, while Harvard improves to 1-0-1, with the same mark in ECAC action.

The Crimson got on the board late in the first period on a power play goal by Vesey (North Reading, MA / South Shore) at 18:23. Alexander Kerfoot (West Vancouver, BC / Coquitlam) passed ahead to Patrick McNally (Glen Head, NY / Milton), who had a give-and-go with Vesey, who finished with a hard wrister past Kasdorf.

Harvard took a 3-0 lead with two goals in the second. Brian Hart (Cumberland, ME / Phillips Exeter Academy) scored at 10:09 after a giveaway in the Engineers' defensive end, before Vesey added his second power play goal of the night at 14:18. With a bunch of bodies in front of the RPI net, Vesey used assists from Kyle Criscuolo (Southampton, NJ / Sioux City) and McNally to give the Crimson a three-goal lead.

Harvard rounded out the scoring just 1:07 into the third period, as Luke Esposito (Greenwich, CT / Chilliwack) took advantage of another defensive turnover by RPI, with an assist going to Hart.

The Crimson outshot Rensselaer, 27-14, in the game, while the Engineers held a 31-25 advantage in faceoff wins. RPI was unable to take advantage of three power play opportunities, while Harvard went 2-for-6 on the extra man.

In the net, Jason Kasdorf (Winnipeg, Manitoba / Des Moines Bucs) stopped 23 opposing shots, while Harvard's Steve Michalek (Glastonbury, CT / Loomis Chaffee) saved all 14 shots he faced.

RPI will return to action on Saturday, hosting Dartmouth in continued ECAC Hockey action at 7 p.m.
