POTSDAM, N.Y. - Sophomore Ashley Clough had a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead a balanced attack as the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's basketball team defeated Clarkson University, 60-52, in a Liberty League contest. Three others joined Clough in double figures in points for RPI, which improves to 6-14 overall and 4-7 in the league. The Golden Knights fall to 8-10 and 3-7.

Leading the Engineers in scoring was Courtney Reynolds and Zysnia Osepa, who both had 13 points. Reynolds added four steals. Amanda Lynch chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds for Rensselaer, which outscored Clarkson by 10 points, 29-19, in the second half for the 8-point win.

The first half was played quite evenly, with each team having small advantages, though Clarkson led through the majority of the first 20 minutes - extending its lead to as many as seven points (27-20) late in the half(6:18 remaining). The Engineers chipped away down the stretch to enter the locker room down by just two, 33-31.

The Engineers regained the lead in the first minute of the second half and pushed out to a five-point advantage as Clarkson endured some difficulties in its first few possessions. However, the Knights rallied to take a 39-38 advantage at the 15:03 mark on a Stephanie Grobe layup. That was the last time Clarkson would lead, though, as RPI went on an 11-2 run in the next five minutes and then extended its lead to double figures down the stretch.

An Ashley Loggins put-back with 1:30 remaining gave Clarkson hope, as the Knights were down just 58-51 at that point, but the Engineers burned clock to hold off the Green and Gold.

Junior Brooke Butkovsky produced a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds in 25 minutes of action for Clarkson. She shot 6-for-8 from the floor for her team-high 12 points, but the rest of the team was only 15-for-57 (26.3%) for the game and only 6-for-27 in the second half. Grobe added in nine points and five boards and Loggins had eight points and six rebounds.
