TROY, N.Y. -- Sophomore Patrick Finn scored three goals and added three assists to lead Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) to a 10-6 win over Oneonta in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at East Campus Stadium. With the win, the Engineers improve to 2-2 on the season, while the Red Dragons drop to 0-4.

RPI got on the board first with an unassisted shot by Matt Hall (Sudbury, MA / Lincoln-Sudbury) at 12:02. Oneonta responded at 9:27 with a tally from Kevin Theofield (East Northport, NY / Northport). Breanainn McNeally (Severna Park, MD / Archbishop Spaulding) netted a shot for RPI at 8:01 to put the Engineers back on top. However, the Red Dragons would tie the game at 2-2 on an unassisted goal by Connor Coyle (Centerport, NY / Harborfields). RPI did not back down, taking back a one-goal advantage with just 17 seconds to play in the quarter on Finn's first tally of the game.

The Red Dragons knotted the game up for a third time to start the second, as Mike Metzger (Colonie, NY / Colonie) scored at 9:12. The Engineers responded at 7:37 to take the lead that they wouldn't relinquish, as Finn handed out his first assist to Liam Mennig (Summit, NJ / Summit). Finn would also provide the helper on the next RPI goal - a man-up opportunity by McNeally that pushed the Engineer lead to 5-3. Oneonta cut the lead back to one on an extra-man opportunity of its own with 2:44 remaining, as Anthony Laureano (Holtsville, NY / Satchem East) took an assist from Josh Heller (Plainview, NY / Plainville) at 2:44.

Rensselaer scored the first two goals of the third quarter to take a 7-4 advantage. McNeally was assisted by Aaron Shavel (Lawrenceville, NJ / Princeton Day School) at 13:17, while Finn took an assist from Chaz Bell (Hopewell, NJ / Hopewell Valley) at 10:39. Laureano netted his second of the day for the Red Dragons at 9:06, but Shavel scored his first goal of the season with a helper from Finn at 5:47 to set the score at 8-5 after three.

Oneonta got its final goal of the game early in the fourth, as Theofield passed off to Devon Casey (Garden City, NY / Kellenberg) at 12:17. Finn scored the last RPI goals of the game with an unassisted tally at 11:26, before Coyle wrapped up the scoring with a goal for the Red Dragons at 7:33

RPI outshot the Red Dragons, 50-31, getting 17 shots in each of the first two quarters. The Engineers also held a 30-24 advantage in ground balls, and won 11-of-19 faceoffs, with nine going to T.J. Tynan (Bedford, NY / Fox Lane).

Goalkeeper Alex Castronovo (Garden City, NY / Garden City) made 11 saves between the pipes for Rensselaer, while Oneonta's Justin Benigno (Massapequa, NY / St. John the Baptist) recorded 15 stops for the Red Dragons.
