Box Score ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute men's lacrosse team got multiple goals from six different players on its way to a 20-5 non-league win over Bard College on Wednesday night. RPI improves to 10-4, while the Raptors fall to 5-8.
The Engineers were up 4-1 after one quarter, but outscored Bard 9-0 in the second quarter to really take charge, scoring twice in the last 10 seconds to make it 13-1 at halftime.
In the end, shots on goal were 40-13; ground balls were 39-28; and Bard had 24 turnovers to RPI's 10.
Freshman phenom
Breanainn McNeally (Severna Park, MD) led the winners with four goals, giving him 40 on the season.
Jake Weidner (Chula Vista, CA) and
Liam Mennig (Summit, NJ) added three goals apiece.
For Bard, George Goceljak scored twice, while single goals from from Mat Livermore, DJ Peters and Harrison Mauldin. For Mauldin, it was his first of the year. John Henry Glascock made 20 saves.
RPI closes out the regular season on Saturday against Drew at 1pm at East Campus Stadium. The Engineers then play at Union in the Liberty League Semifinals on May 2.
The Raptors have one game remaining in the 2014 season. their last season as an independent. They'll host College of Mount St. Vincent on Saturday at 6pm. Next spring, Bard will join the Liberty League and see teams like RPI on a regular (and annual) basis.
