TROY, N.Y. -- Allister Warren and Taylor Wisman both recorded hat tricks to lead #1 RIT to a 15-8 win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Liberty League men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at East Campus Stadium. With the win, the top-ranked Tigers improve to 11-0, with a 2-0 mark in league play, while the Engineers, who saw their six-game win streak broken, drop to 7-3 overall, and 3-1 in the conference.

After RIT's Ryan Lee (Sharon, ON / The Hill School) scored the first goal of the game less than a minute into play, the Engineers responded with three straight. Billy Gibbs (Stony Brook, NY / Ward Melville) struck first with an unassisted shot at 11:19, followed by an Aaron Shavel (Lawrenceville, NJ / Princeton Day School) man-up goal at 7:53. Matt Hall (Sudbury, MA / Lincoln-Sudbury), who assisted on Shavel's tally, scored the third Engineer goal at 6:39 to put RPI on top, 3-1. The Tigers won the ensuing faceoff, and went on a streak of their own, getting three consecutive markers to regain the advantage.

Warren (Toronto, ON / Malvern Collegiate Institute) and Eddie Kiesa (Jamesville-Dewitt, NY / Jamesville-Dewitt) scored unassisted goals to tie the game, before Casey Jackson (Victoria, BC / Claremont) took an assist from Warren to put the Tigers up, 4-3. Hall followed with his second of the day at 1:45 to knot the score once again, before Matt Hossack (Port Perry, ON / Port Perry) gave RIT a one-goal lead at 1:09, which would hold for the remainder of the first quarter.

The Engineers tied the game at 5-5 ten seconds into the second quarter, as Breanainn McNeally (Severna Park, MD / Archbishop Spaulding) took an assist from Liam Mennig (Summit, NJ / Summit). RIT would answer with back-to-back goals by Kyle Aquin (Hamilton, ON / St. Jean De Brebeuf) before McNeally was able to connect with Shavel for another man-up goal with 8:10 to play in the first half, pulling the Engineers back to within one, 7-6.

The Tigers would score the final three goals of the half, however, getting two tallies from Tayler Wisman (Seattle, WA / Inglemoor) sandwiched around Warren's third of the day. Wisman's second goal with 52 seconds left on the clock was a man-up opportunity for RIT, and set the score at 10-6 at the half.

The Tigers scored twice to start the third before John Phillips (Oswego, NY / Oswego) scored his second of the season at 8:34. Wisman netted his third of the day with 6:57 to play, but RPI's Scott Crow (Darnestown, MD / Bullis School) hit an unassisted shot with just under five minutes to play to pull the Engineers to within five, 13-8. RIT scored the final goal of the third period at 3:24, and recorded the only tally of the fourth, as Jackson scored his 35th of the season, to set the final score.

RIT outshot the Engineers, 49-31, and held a slight 35-34 advantage in ground balls. The Tigers also won 16-of-27 faceoffs, with specialist Tyler Brooks-Lambert (Seneca Castle, NY / Midlakes) taking all 27. Goalkeeper Alex Castronovo (Garden City, NY / Garden City) racked up a career-high 20 saves for Rensselaer, while RIT's Pat Johnston (Long Beach, CA / Norwell) stopped 13 opposing shots in the winning effort.

The Engineers will return to action next Saturday, April 12, visiting Liberty League foe Union at 1 p.m.
