BACK IN TOWN: Rensselaer returns to East Campus Arena for a single game against Hobart on Friday night (8pm), following a three-game road trip last week ... The Engineers travel to Schenectady to face area-rival Union tomorrow afternoon (4pm).

RENSSELAER WINS AT ST. LAWRENCE: Rensselaer earned a 67-62 win at St. Lawrence University, holding off the Saints behind senior Josh Dugas' 15 points, last Saturday ... Dugas led Rensselaer on 5-of-9 shooting, while Tyler Gendron and Nate Kane each had 13 points ... St. Lawrence was led by Brady Condlin's 17 points and six rebounds, while Kyle Edwards had 13 points and six boards ... The Engineers shot 55% from the floor, including 8-for-16 from behind the arc, while the Saints shot 41% from the floor but only 21% from three point range (3-of-14) ... Both teams shot above 50% from the floor in the first half, as Edwards had a team-high 11 points in the period while Gendron matched that total for RPI ... The Engineers took a 35-33 lead into intermission thanks to their three-point shooting, as their 6-for-9 mark helped them hold a lead for the majority of the half ... The beginning of the second half put St. Lawrence in a hole, as the team was 0-for-7 from the field with three turnovers as RPI opened on a 12-0 run in the opening 5:30 to push the lead to 47-33 ... St. Lawrence then began chipping away at the lead with baskets by Leondre Simmon, Kaleb Faison and Condlin to get back to within six with 9:59 remaining ... A three from Kane with 3:44 left put the visitors up four, 61-57 ... After a Condlin lay-up and a free throw by Dugas, Faison came up with a clutch three of his own to tie the score, 62-62, with 2:27 left ... Dugas scored on the ensuing possession, which proved to stand up, as the Saints were 0-for-5 in the final 2:00 minutes, including chances to tie from both Edwards and Kyle Kobis ... The misses allowed Brian Hatcher to put the game away with two free throws in the final seconds.

PACING THE ENGINEERS: Four RPI players are currently averaging double-figures in scoring, including junior Chase Almond at 13.1 points per game ... He is followed by senior captain Josh Dugas (12.1 ppg) and junior Tyler Gendron (12.0 ppg) ... Classmate Brian Hatcher (10.6 ppg) rounds out the top four ... Almond hauls in a team-high 8.5 rebounds per contest, while Dugas dishes out a club-best 2.9 assists per game ... RPI has three players shooting better than 35% from beyond the arc, including sophomore Jonathan Luster (47.8%), Hatcher (44.8%) and Dugas (39.2%).

STATESMEN LEADERS: Senior Connor Rehbaum leads the team in scoring at 15.6 points per game ... He also grabs a team-best 6.1 rebounds per contest ... Classmate Andrew Hoy is second in second at 12.2 points per game, while fellow senior Trey Blanding rounds out the top three scorers at 9.9 points per contest ... Blanding leads the team in assists (65) and steals (16), while Hoy shoots a team-high 87.0% (40-for-46) from the free-throw line.

2013-14 VS. HOBART: The Statesmen reached the century mark twice in sweeping the season series with Rensselaer, 2-0 ... Hobart was victorious 106-93 in the season opener, as five reached double-figures in scoring, including Richie Bonney, who had 26 ... Josh Dugas dropped 22 for RPI in defeat ... In the rematch, the homestanding Statesmen won comfortably, 113-77, behind 24 points from Bonney and 21 from Connor Rehbaum ... Nick Keefe netted 13 to lead the Engineers.

JANUARY 9, 2015: Union put three players into double figures in points and Ryan Whelpley had a game-high 16 rebounds for the Dutchmen, who defeated Rensselaer, 70-47, in a Liberty League contest at East Campus Arena ... Union junior William Hython led all scorers with 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including a three-pointer late in the first half for a 14-point lead at the break ... He also had seven rebounds, an assist and two steals in 27 minutes of action ... Sophomore Deshon Burgess added 13 points and three assists and classmate Wade McNamara scored 12 points, including five straight in the second half, with four rebounds and three assists ... Whelpley added six points to go along with his 16 rebounds ... Senior Josh Dugas was RPI's top scorer with 14 points, including four three-pointers ... He also had a rebound and a pair of assists ... Sophomore Jonathan Luster also reached double figures, scoring 10 points with six rebounds, a block and two steals ... Union led 39-25 at halftime, but Rensselaer chipped away throughout the early stages of the second half, pulling to within six points (42-36) with 14:18 remaining ... McNamara countered with a three-point basket and a layup to put the visitors in front by 11 points, 47-36, and the Union lead never dropped below seven points from that point.
