#RPIWS Edged in Final Seconds

Union scores with 1.8 on the clock for 1-0 victory

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — With 1.8 seconds on the clock, Union scored the game-winning goal to take the 1-0 victory over cross-town rival and conference foe Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on Wednesday evening. With the win, the Dutchwomen improve to 5-3-3 overall (1-2-0 Liberty League), while the Engineers drop to 5-3-3 (1-2-1 Liberty League).

Katie Monahan found the back of the net off an assist from Jessica Farland with 1.8 seconds remaining for the only goal of the contest.

RPI out-shot the Dutchwomen 6-5 in the first half, with each team registering one shot on goal. Union flipped the trend in the second 45 minutes, totaling six attempts to the Engineers' three.

Tori Riopelle finished with four saves for RPI, while Erica Matteo stopped the only shot she faced.

The Dutchwomen head to Bard College to continue conference play on Saturday, Oct. 10 (2pm). Rensselaer hosts Williams on Saturday (12pm).
