CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Led by a timely third-period goal, No. 9/9 Harvard women's hockey earned a 2-1 triumph over Rensselaer on Saturday afternoon at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center.

Senior Miye D'Oench tallied the game-winner for Harvard (5-1-1, 5-1-1 ECAC Hockey), which has held its opponent to two goals or less in all seven outings this season. Classmate Jessica Harvey potted her first goal of the season, and a quartet of skaters tallied assists. In front of net, senior Emerance Maschmeyer set a season-high with 32 saves to pick up her first win of the season.

After a scoreless first stanza, the Engineers got on the board at 9:39 in the second period when Taylor Schwalbe tipped home a rebound off the missed shot from Mari Mankey. Jenn Godin was also credited with an assist, with the score giving Rensselaer a 1-0 lead.

Less than two minutes later, Harvey netted her first goal of the year after redirecting a shot from junior Briana Mastel into the lower right corner. Freshman Grace Zarzecki started the play with a pass to the top to Mastel, and both earned their second assist of the season with the equalizing goal.

Harvard took the lead, 2-1, at 12:51 in the third period when D'Oench put home the game-winning goal with a shot from just outside the crease. Junior Sydney Daniels controlled the puck off the boards and played a pass to sophomore Haley Mullins, who then turned around and slid it across to a waiting D'Oench for the tally. The goal was the fifth of the year for the senior, and Daniels extended her point streak to five games on the play with the helper.

The Engineers are back in action next Sunday, when they visit McGill University for an exhibition game (2pm).
