WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University junior Evan Jastremski (Marshfield, MA/Marshfield) scored 62 seconds into the second overtime period tonight, delivering the Judges a 2-1 victory over RPI in the second round of the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament. Brandeis improves to 18-2-1 on the season and advances to the Sweet 16 of the tournament for the fourth-straight year. RPI's season comes to a close with a 12-5-3 mark.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
8th - Brandeis struck first early when junior Josh Ocel (No. Attleboro, MA/Worcester Academy) connected with the head of sophomore Patrick Flahive (Chatham, Ill./Worcester Academy) on a free kick. Flahive flicked it home for his fourth goal of the season, while the assist was Ocel's 10th.

The Judges controlled play in regulation, but were unable to get any insurance. They hit a post in the 38th minute and a crossbar in the 85th minute.

90th - RPI equalized with 57.7 seconds left in regulation to force overtime. Off a free kick deep in the Brandeis zone with a crowded 18-yard box, Brandeis sophomore Ben Woodhouse (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) came off his line to punch at the ball. He got a hand on it, but Engineer junior Andrew Gondek (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) collected it and got a shot off. It was sent away by a Brandeis defender, but senior Paul Lentine (Penfield, NY/Penfield Senior) slammed it home to force the extra sessions.

102nd - After an uneventful first OT, Brandeis scored in a similar fashion to the RPI goal in the second. Ocel took a free kick from the left side into the box. Jastremski found the ball and took an initial shot that was saved by RPI sophomore Ryan Nealon (Somers, NY/Somers), but the Judge was persistent and slammed home the rebound for his third goal of the season.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

-Brandeis owned a 23-9 edge in shots, but it was just 12-8 after the first half.
-Nealon finished with six saves in the losing effort, while Woodhouse had one stop for the win.
-Flahive also scored Brandeis's first goal in their 2-1 NCAA tournament opener against Thomas College.
-Ocel became the 15th player in Brandeis history with 10 assists in a season. He is one shy of becoming the 15th player with 20 career helpers despite playing just two seasons.
-All three of Jastremski's goals this season have been game-winners.
