Engineers break away from league play Friday (7pm)

ON THE ROAD FOR ONE: The Engineers take a break from ECAC Hockey play on Friday, when they visit Bentley for a single game (7:05pm) ... RPI then hosts New Hampshire on Tuesday at the Houston Field House (7pm).

ENGINEERS EDGE YALE: Sophomore Viktor Liljegren scored halfway through overtime to give the Engineers a 3-2 victory over 10th-ranked Yale on Friday night ... Mark Miller (3) and Lou Nanne (2) also tallied for RPI, which received a career-high 41 saves from freshman netminder Cam Hackett ... Ryan Hitchcock (3) and Andrew Gaus (1) scored for the visiting Bulldogs, while Alex Lyon made 16 saves.

RPI TIES BROWN: The Engineers came back from a 3-1 third period deficit to earn a point against Brown on Saturday at the Houston Field House ... Sophomore Kenny Gillespie and senior Zach Schroeder each tallied in the third and freshman netminder Cam Hackett made three saves in overtime to preserve the draw ... Junior Riley Bourbonnais also scored in the game, while Hackett finished with 29 stops.

POINTS LEADERS: Entering the weekend, junior Riley Bourbonnais has six goals and four assists for a team-high 10 points in 11 games ... Freshman Evan Tironese (1 goal, 6 assists) has seven points, while juniors Jake Wood (3 goals, 3 assists) and Parker Reno (6 assists) join sophomore Lou Nanne (2 goals, 4 assists) with six points apiece.

BETWEEN THE PIPES: Senior Jason Kasdorf has started eight of the team's nine games this season and is 3-4-0 with a 2.46 goals against average and a .927 save percentage ... Freshman Cam Hackett (2-0-2) has factored into the last four decisions (3 starts) and carries a 2.62 goals against average and a .929 save percentage.

HACKETT HONORED BY LEAGUE: ECAC Hockey announced its weekly award winners for November 17 and freshman Cam Hackett was named Rookie of the Week ... He went 1-0-1 with a 2.35 goals against average and a .933 save percentage ... Totaling 70 saves, including a career-high 41 in the RPI's 3-2 overtime victory over then-No. 10 Yale on Friday night, he also made 29 stops in a 3-3 tie with Brown on Saturday.

SPECIAL TEAMS: The Engineers have started the season at 15.8% (6 for 38) on the power play ...The penalty kill has opened at 83.0% (44 for 53).

IN THE FACE-OFF CIRCLE: The Engineers have face-offs at a 44.1% clip over the first 11 games ... Senior Mark Miller has won a team-best 48.9% of his draws, while classmate Milos Bubela is second at 47.5%.

SHORTHANDED LEADERS: Rensselaer's three shorthanded goals are second most in the country, trailing Nebraska-Omaha (4) ... Senior Milos Bubela is tied for the nation's individual lead with St. Cloud State sophomore Judd Peterson and Nebraska-Omaha juniors Jake Guentzel and Justin Parizek ... All four have two shorthanded goals.

BOURBONNAIS STREAKING: RPI junior Riley Bourbonnais is currently riding a six-game point streak in which he has amassed three goals and four assists for seven points ... He is a +8 over that stretch with a team-high 20 shots.

SNAPPED STREAK: Junior Jake Wood saw his five-game point streak snapped against St. Lawrence on November 7 ... He had three goals and two assist over his previous five contests ... He picked up an assist against 10th-ranked Yale on Saturday.

GIVING UP THE BODY: The Engineers have blocked 171 shots through 11 games, including a team-high 28 from senior captain Chris Bradley ... Sophomore defenseman Mike Prapavessis has 23, while junior Riley Bourbonnais has gotten in front of 18 attempts from the opposition, which the most among RPI forwards.

UNBEATEN STREAKS: The Engineers six-game unbeaten streak is the fourth-longest in the country ... ECAC Hockey teams own two of the top four streaks, including Quinnipiac, which is a perfect 11-0.

RECORD LEAGUE START: Rensselaer is out to its best conference start to a season since the 1970-71 team opened ECAC play with a 6-0-2 record.

MORE OVERTIME: The Engineers four consecutive overtime games are the most since the 1991-92 season, when the team played in five straight ... RPI went 2-0-3 in those contests.

ALL-TIME VS. BENTLEY: The Engineers and Falcons have split their six meetings all-time, 3-3 ... RPI won the first ever meeting, 4-0, on October 9, 2007, at the Houston Field House ... All six games have been played in Troy.

2014-15 VS. THE FALCONS: Bentley swept a two-game series at the Houston Field House last season, winning by scores of 5-2 and 4-0, on October 24 and 25 ... The Falcons used four third period goals to break open a 1-1 tie in the opener, before goaltender Blake Dougherty stopped all 19 shots he faced to earn a shutout the following night.

SCOUTING BENTLEY: Junior Max French (6 goals, 4 assists) and sophomore Kyle Schmidt (4 goals, 6 assists) are tied for the team lead with 10 points apiece ... Freshman Tanner Jago (9 assists) has nine points, while senior Andrew Gladiuk (5 goals, 3 assists) has eight.

FALCONS IN GOAL: Sophomore Jayson Argue (3-2-1) has a 2.38 goals against average and a .941 save percentage in seven games ... Senior Gabe Antoni (2-1-0) carries a 2.08 goals against average and a .932 save percentage in three games.
