GAMEDAY: It's the Liberty League opener for the Engineers, who completed the non-league slate with a 6-3 record ... RPI faces Hobart on Saturday and Clarkson on Sunday ... Both games begin at 4pm at East Campus Arena.

FOUR-GAME WEEK: Rensselaer played two games earlier this week, competing in the Woodcliff Hotel & Spa Invitational, hosted by St. John Fisher ... The Engineers defeated Wilkes 84-71 on Tuesday before losing to SJF 67-54 on Wednesday.

AGAINST WILKES: Freshman guard Tom Horvat scored a team-best 20 points to lead the Engineers ... Horvat also had three rebounds and a game-high six steals ... Senior Tyler Gendron had 16 points, while classmate Chase Almond had 12 points and a team-high six rebounds ... Junior Jonathan Luster dished out five assists.

AGAINST ST. JOHN FISHER: The Cardinals used a 12-0 run early in the second half to turn a two-point advantage into a 14-point bulge on the way to victory ... Freshman Tom Horvat scored on a layup 1:55 into the second half to pull Rensselaer to within 41-39, but the Cardinals answered ... Tyler Gendron led the Engineers with 14 points, including 12 in the first half, while Chase Almond had six points and a team-best seven rebounds.

THIRD FINAL: Rensselaer has played in three tournaments, advancing to the championship game in each.

LIBERTY LEAGUE WEEKLY AWARDS: The Engineers have had a pair of freshmen earn league Rookie of the Week awards ... Guard Tom Horvat was honored following the first game as well as on November 30 ... Forward Andreas Kontopidis earned the recognition on November 23. 

ABOUT HOBART: The Statesmen have been off since December 10 ... They opened the season with three straight victories, but have lost four of their last five contests ... In Hobart's most recent game, it lost at Hamilton, 80-65 ... The game in Troy is the fourth road contest for the Statesmen, who are 1-2 in such games.

SERIES SNAPSHOT: This will be the 111th meeting between Hobart and Rensselaer in a series that dates back to 1920 ... The Engineers lead the all-time series 66-44, including a 38-16 edge in Troy ... The Statesmen have had the upper hand of late, winning eight in a row and 10 of the past 12 against RPI.

LAST MEETING: On Feb. 7, 2015, Hobart slipped past Rensselaer 50-46 in Bristol Gym ... On Senior Day, the Statesmen Class of 2015 combined for 39 points ... The Statesmen closed the first half on a 13-4 run to take a 30-26 lead into halftime ... Hobart used another late run in the second half, 9-2, to pull out the win ...
