SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The Skidmore College men's basketball team shot a season-high 58% (29-50) from the field, including 71% (17-24) in the first half, in a 77-58 Liberty League win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on Friday night at the WIlliamson Center.

The Thoroughbreds improve to 14-7 overall and 11-2 in league play, while the Engineers go to 6-16 overall and 3-10 in the Liberty League. 

Aldin Medunjanin led all players with 22 points on 8 of 11 shooting, going 6 of 9 from 3-point range. Connor Merrill had 16 points and eight boards andErik Sanders chipped in with 14 points.

Josh Dugas finished with a team-high 14 points on 6 of 10 shooting. Tyler Gendron had 13 points and Chase Almond added 10 points.

Medunjanin got Skidmore out to a 20-11 lead to open the game, tallying 14 points on 4 of 5 shooting, including 3 of 4 from beyond the arc. The Engineers responded with a back-to-back layups by Gendron, but again Medunjanin led the Thoroughbreds, knocking down his fifth 3-pointer of the half. Skidmore outscored RPI 20-7 over the final eight minutes to take a 45-27 lead into the break.

Skidmore put the game out of reach with a 20-10 run to start the second half behind eight points from Merrill and five from Medunjanin. The Thoroughbreds hot shooting continued throughout the half, finishing 12 for 26 to cruise to the 77-58 win. RPI's Dugas produced 11 second-half points, going 5 for 6 from the field, while the Engineers shot 52.0% (13-25) as a team in the stanza.

Rensselaer hosts Clarkson on Saturday at 4pm. Following the game, previous head coach Mike Griffin will be honored for his 30 years with the Engineers.
