TROY, N.Y. - Junior Tyler Gendron scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's basketball team to a 60-41 victory over Bard College in the season finale for both schools. With the win on Senior Day, the Engineers finish at 8-17 overall (5-11 Liberty League), while the Raptors drop to 11-14 (6-10 Liberty League).

RPI used a 7-0 run to take a 13-6 lead early on. Junior Brian Hatcher (Danbury, CT/Immaculate) scored five points during the scoring run. Bard answer quickly with a 6-0 run of its own, including four points from senior Siondueh Burnette (Lakeville, MA/Apponequet), to draw within 13-12 with 10:34 left in the first.

The Engineers came right back with an 11-2 spurt, to create a 22-14 cushion with 6:38 remaining in the opening stanza. Sophomore Jonathan Luster (Essex, CT/Valley Regional) had two free throws and a lay-up during the run. Gendron (Merrimack, NH/Merrimack) was perfect from the field in the first half (4 for 4), helping the Engineers build a 31-20 advantage at the break.

A 9-0 scoring run early in the second half gave the hosts a 45-26 lead. Gendron capped the decisive sequence, at 9:10 of the half, with one of his five three-pointers on the day. Another 9-0 run gave RPI its largest lead (54-30), before the Raptors worked back to within 19 to close out the game.

Aiding Gendron offensively was Hatcher and senior captain Josh Dugas (Monroe, CT/St. Luke's), who had nine points apiece. Junior Chase Almond finished with eight points and nine rebounds, while Hatcher had 10 boards and a game-best six blocked shots.

The Raptors were paced by 10 points each from Burnette and freshman DeVahnte Mosley (Sicklerville, NJ/Paul VI). Junior center Brandon Cunningham (Bronx, NY/Mount Saint Michael Academy) had six points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
