Men's Lacrosse Welcomes Keene State to East Campus Stadium

GAME DAY
• Rensselaer (1-1) hosts Keene State (0-0) in a non-conference game at East Campus Stadium at 1pm.  The game was originally supposed to be played in Keene, N.H., but was moved to East Campus Stadium because of field conditions. Both teams are currently receiving votes in the USILA Division III Coaches' Poll.

LAST TIME OUT
• RPI hosted Plattsburgh State on Wednesday, coming away with a 12-8 victory. Eleven different players recorded points in the game, with four players recording multiple goals. Pat Finn led the way with two goals and one assist, while Breanainn McNeally, Matthew Gilman, and Matt Hall also scored twice. Goalkeeper David Gibbs made 14 saves in his first collegiate victory.

THE ENGINEERS
• RPI kicked off the 2015 season against #16 Montclair State last Sunday, falling to the Red Hawks, 9-8. Breanainn McNeally and Pat Hogan both scored two goals, while Scott Crow finished with one goal and one assist. Sophomore goalkeeper David Gibbs recorded nine saves in his first collegiate start. 

• Following the opener, McNeally was named the Liberty League Offensive Player of the Week, while Gibbs picked up Defensive Player of the Week honors. Freshman Matthew Gilman, who also recorded one goal and one assist, was named the League's Rookie of the Week.

Patrick Finn currently leads all RPI scorers with five points on two goals and three assists. Breanainn McNeally has a team-best four goals, while Scott Crow is tied with Finn for a team-high three helpers. Sophomore goalkeeper David Gibbs has started both games for the Engineers, posting an 8.50 goals against average, while making 23 saves.

•    The 2014 Engineers went 11-5 overall with a 4-2 Liberty League slate and Townsend earned his fourth Liberty League Coaching of the Year award for his efforts. He guided a balanced Engineers team that was second in the league in goals-against average (7.44), while also ranking second in points per game (18.88), goals per game (11.31) and assists per game (7.56). The team had a 90% conversion rate in man-down situations, which was the best in the entire nation and also the highest percentage in school history. The Engineers, who participated in the Liberty League Semifinals, converted 36 of 40 opportunities.

THE OWLS
•    Keene State is 0-1 after falling to Western New England, 17-16, in the season opener. Ryan Hart led all scorers with six goals and seven points for Keene State.  

•    The Owls won the Little East Conference championship in 2014. The team returns 89.1 percent of its points, 92.8 percent of its goals, 83.4 percent of its assists and both starting goalies from a season ago. The Owls were the Little East's top offensive unit in 2014, leading the conference in goals per game (13.82), points per game (22.71) and shooting percentage (.355).
