ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT (9-11, 3-8 Liberty League) women's basketball team snapped a 4-game losing skid Friday with a 73-64 win over Rensselaer (11-9; 7-4 Liberty League) in front of over 100 girls from the Rochester City School District who were in attendance for National Women and Sports Day.

Ashlynn Pamitesso was one of four Tigers to score in double figures, tallying 16 points. Jessica Glaz chipped in 14 points, while Merissa Maiorano added 12 points and 10 rebounds for RIT, which held a 47-37 rebounding edge. The Tigers shot 39.3 percent from the floor on 24-of-61 shooting. RIT was 6-of-11 from behind the arc and 19-of-28 from the foul line.

Senior Amanda Lynch led Rensselaer with 21 points, while classmate Bailei Tetrault tallied 14 points. Junior Ashley Clough added 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Rensselaer.

RIT took a 36-18 lead into halftime, shooting 38.2 percent from the floor. Palmitesso led the Tigers with nine first-half points, while Maiorano and Olsen each scored seven. The Tigers never trailed in the first half, leading by as many as 23 points.

The Engineers woke up in the second half, tallying 46 points on 51.6 percent shooting from the floor. Lynch's bucket with 15:34 to play capped an 11-1 run by the Engineers to start the second half, cutting the Tigers lead to 39-29.

After a Maria Edwards three made it a 13-point RIT lead, RPI cut the lead to 42-36 on a Lynch layup with 13:10 to play. The Engineers got as close as three points when Clough converted a pair of free throws with 2:27 to play, making it a one-possession game.

That would be as close as RPI would get in the second half as RIT outscored the Engineers 15-9 over the final 2:27, getting clutch free throws down the stretch from Glaz Edwards and Maiorano to preserve the win.
