Box Score | Text Message AlertsTROY, N.Y. - Patrick Finn scored two goals and added four assists, while three other players each recorded three goals apiece, as Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) defeated Connecticut College, 17-3, in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon at East Campus Stadium. With the win, the Engineers improve to 4-2 on the season, while the Camels drop to 0-4 overall.Connecticut got on the board first, as Ross Thompson (Carmel, NY / Mahopac) assisted Briggs Barton (Rye, NY / Rye) with 10:25 on the clock in the first period. Finn was involved in each of Rensselaer's first five goals in the first quarter. RPI's 
Jake Weidner (Chula Vista, CA / Otay Ranch) tied the game less than a minute later, as Finn (North Easton, MA / Thayer Academy) handed out his first assist of the day. His second helper came 19 seconds later, assisting 
Matthew Gilman (St. Louis, MO / John Burroughs) to put the Engineers on top. Just 39 seconds later, Finn scored his first of the day, and followed that with a third assist, again to Weidner, pushing the RPI lead to 4-1 with 7:30 left to play. A second unassisted goal by Finn came at 4:18, before 
Ben Piersiak (Needham, MA / St. Sebastian's) won the ensuing faceoff and went in for a score, giving the Engineers a 6-1 lead after the first quarter.
Rensselaer added four goals in the second period, with three coming from 
Breanainn McNeally (Severna Park, MD / Archbishop Spaulding). McNeally's first of the day came with 10:01 on the clock, taking an assist from 
Casey Colligan (Baldwinsville, NY / CW Baker). Finn followed with his fourth helper of the day on McNeally's tally at 7:23. Late in the quarter, Weidner scored his eighth goal of the season with an assist from 
Matt Hall (Sudbury, MA / Lincoln-Sudbury) at 1:34, before Gilman assisted McNeally on his third of the quarter with just one second left, to put RPI ahead, 10-1, at the halftime break.
Hall scored twice in under a minute in the third quarter. At 12:54, he converted an unassisted shot, before taking an assist from 
Scott Crow (Darnestown, MD / Bullis School) on a man-up goal at 12:03. Just under a minute later, Ben Parens (Sleepy Hollow, NY / Sleepy Hollow) scored for Connecticut on a man-down. Hall completed his hat trick at 7:47 with another man-up tally, this time taking an assist from 
Zachary Lukas (Longmeadow, MA / Longmeadow). Gilman connected with Crow at 2:03 to put the Engineers ahead, 14-3, before 
Aaron Shavel (Lawrenceville, NJ / Princeton Day School) ended the scoring in the quarter with an unassisted tally at 0:05.
Pat Hogan (Mt. Sinai, NY / Mt. Sinai) scored an unassisted goal for the Engineers at 10:04 of the fourth quarter to push the lead to 16-2. 
Ryan Brisson (Manorville, NY / Eastport South Manor) took an assist from 
Rhett Adley (Lexington, MA / Lexington) on a man-up opportunity to record both of their first points on the season with 8:26 to play. Connecticut College's Matt Samuelson (Cheshire, CT / Cheshire) wrapped up the scoring with an unassisted tally with 41 seconds to play.
Rensselaer outshot the Camels, 54-23, and held a slight 28-27 advantage in groundballs. Connecticut led in the faceoff circle, winning 15-of-24 at the X. RPI's man-down unit continued to play strong, holding Connecticut to 0-for-2 on the extra man. The Engineers went 3-for-5 on the man-up. Both teams used three goalkeepers in the game.
RPI's 
David Gibbs (Stony Brook, NY / Ward Melville) earned the win, making 10 saves. 
Parker Smith (Cordova, TN / IMG Academy) and 
Troy Manchester (Niskayuna, NY / Niskayuna) also saw action for the Engineers. Bobby Bleistein (Oyster Bay, NY / Locust Valley) took the loss for the Camels, recording 12 saves. Matt Andrews (Smithfield, RI / LaSalle Academy) and Connor Poetzinger (Boca Raton, FL / Saint Andrews School) got time between the pipes for Connecticut.
Rensselaer will return to action on Sunday, taking on Ursinius at Cold Spring Harbor High School on Long Island at 1 p.m. Connecticut plays again on Saturday, hosting Williams at 1 p.m.
