Men's Lacrosse Continues Liberty League Play

GAME DAY
• Rensselaer (7-2, 2-0) takes on Clarkson (2-4, 0-1) in a Liberty League contest. The Engineers, who have won six straight, are currently ranked 18th in the USILA Division III Coaches' Poll.

LAST TIME OUT - RPI
•    RPI scored nine straight, while holding Skidmore scoreless for 46 minutes, as the Engineers defeated the Thoroughbreds, 9-4, in Liberty League men's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon. Matthew Gilman scored two goals and added two assists to lead the Engineers. Breanainn McNeally also recorded two tallies on the day. RPI outshot Skidmore, 49-19, in the game, and held a 35-15 advantage in ground balls.

LAST TIME OUT - CLARKSON
•   A late comeback fell one goal short as Clarkson lost to 16th-ranked Cortland State 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon at Hantz Turf Field. Ryan St. Croix scored two goals for the Golden Knights, while Robert Linder and Matthew Gold each added one goal each. Nick Strandholm finished with 12 saves for Clarkson. while also picking up a team-high four ground balls. 

THE ENGINEERS
•     RPI has outscored opponents, 99-64, so far this season, including a 26-14 margin in the fourth quarter. The Engineers have recorded 21 man-up goals, while allowing just one.

•     McNeally leads all players with 22 goals to go along with five assists. He tied a career-best with five goals against Wesleyan. Patrick Finn is second on the team with 15 goals, and leads all players with 12 assists, tying him with McNeally for first on the team with 27 points.

•    Sophomore David Gibbs has started every game in the net for the Engineers. He has recorded double digit save totals in 5-of-9 games so far, and leads the league with a 7.23 goals against average. He was named the USILA Defensive Player of the Week on March 17 after a career-best 19 saves versus Ursinus.

•    RPI  has allowed just one goal in 20 attempts while on the man-down. Last season, RPI had a 90% conversion rate in man-down situations, which was the best in the nation and also the highest percentage in school history. The Engineers, converted 36-of-40 opportunities.

THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS
•    Clarkson is 2-4 overall, and 0-1 in league play after falling to #2 RIT, 16-7, on March 21. The Golden Knights defeated Brockport and Fisher in back-to-back games earlier this season.

•    Ryan St. Croix leads Clarkson with 12 goals and two assists for 14 total points. Ryan DaRin and Matthew Gold both have seven goals each. Dylan Broomfield has seen most of the action at the X for the Golden Knights, winning 57-of-106 faceoffs.

•    Nick Strandholm has played all but 10 minutes in the goal for Clarkson this season. He is second in the Liberty League, behind RPI's Gibbs, with a 7.54 goals against average.
