Follow RPI Athletics on InstagramGAME DAY• Rensselaer (7-4, 2-2) welcomes 11th-ranked Union to ECAV Stadium in a Liberty League contest. The Engineers, who had won six straight before falling to Clarkson and RIT last week, are recieving votes in the USILA National Coaches Poll.
LAST TIME OUT - RPI• Allister Warren and Eddie Kiesa each scored four goals to lead RIT to an 18-8 win over RPI in Liberty League men's lacrosse action last Saturday. RIT outshot the Engineers, 53-27, and also held a 21-8 advantage in faceoff wins. The Engineers did keep the Tigers off the scoreboard on the man advantage, holding RIT to 0-for-4 with the extra player.
David Gibbs recorded 15 saves for RPI in goal, while RIT's Pat Johnston stopped eight opposing shots in the win.
LAST TIME OUT - UNION• Union ran its win streak to three games with a 16-10 win over Montclair State. Connor Hall was dominate on faceoffs, winning 18-of-22 draws, and gathered a team-best nine ground balls. The 11th-ranked Dutchmen also struck three times on man-up situations. Charlie Ross and Richard Gregory scored five goals apiece, and Ross extended his goal-scoring streak to 11 games and now has a team-leading 29 goals on the season.
THE ENGINEERS•
Breanainn McNeally leads all players with 27 goals to go along with six assists. He tied a career-best with five goals against Wesleyan.
Patrick Finn is second on the team with 16 goals, and leads all players with 14 assists.
Jake Weidner is tied for second on the team with 16 goals.
• Sophomore
David Gibbs has started every game in the net for the Engineers. He has recorded double digit save totals in 8-of-11 games so far, and is posting an 8.37 goals against average. He was named the USILA Defensive Player of the Week on March 17 after a career-best 19 saves versus Ursinus.
• RPI has allowed just one goal in 26 attempts while on the man-down, and is currently leading all of Division III with a 96.2 conversion rate. Last season, RPI had a 90% conversion rate in man-down situations, which was the best in the nation and also the highest percentage in school history. The Engineers, converted 36-of-40 opportunities.
THE DUTCHMEN• No. 11 Union is 9-2 overall, and 2-1 in the Liberty League. The Dutchmen, who were ranked as high as 3rd in the nation earlier this season, fell to St. Lawrence, 7-4, on March 28.
• Charlie Ross leads the Dutchmen, and is second in the Liberty League with 2.64 goals per game, having scored 29 times in 11 games. Ross is tied with Peter Richardson for the team lead in points, as Richardson has 16 goals and 16 assists for 32 total points.
• Stefan Basile has started all but one game for Union in the goal. The senior captain has a 9.18 goals against average and a .549 save percentage so far this season.
