With the win, the Engineers improve to 5-4 overall (3-1 Liberty League), while the Golden Knights drop to 7-4 (2-2 Liberty League).
RPI got off to a fast starting, scoring three of the game's first four goals. Junior
Erin DeLucca opened the scoring at 3:32 of the first half, of a feed from Colitz. After Emma Jeffrey tied it up, less than a minute later, the Engineers ran off two straight tallies to take a 3-1 lead.
Ashley Flick pulled the hosts to within 3-2, 10 minutes into the half, but Rensselaer answered with a four-goal spurt - including two by Hager - to open up a 7-2 edge. Paige Fayette quelled the rally with her 17th goal of the season, but RPI responded once again, scoring the final two goals of the stanza for a 9-3 advantage.
The Golden Knights showed early signs of a comeback in the second half, getting goals from Fayette and Taylor Collins.
RPI then ran off five straight tallies to put the game away. Colitz had two goals during the scoring run, which put the visitors on top, 14-5, with 9:53 remaining.
Clarkson concluded the scoring with goals from Kate Dillon and Emma Oliver. Dani Tani and Courtney Quinn split the game evenly in goal for the Golden Knights, with Tani saving two shots in the first 30 minutes and Quinn making three stops in the second.
