Breanainn McNeally and
Jake Weidner combined for five goals and three assists as RPI upended St. Lawrence University, 10-8, in a Liberty League contest on North Country Field at Hall-Leet Stadium. The Engineers scored eight of the first 11 goals to win their first game since March 25. McNeally had two goals and two assists, while Weidner scored three times. Classmate
David Gibbs backstopped the win by making six saves.
LAST TIME OUT - HAMILTON• Connecticut College's Ross Thompson '17 scored five goals and the Camels rallied in the fourth quarter for a 10-7 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Hamilton's Steuben Field on Saturday afternoon. Sam Sweet 'boasted two goals and an assist for Hamilton. Sweet leads the team with 24 goals and 40 points. John Zimmerman added one goal and two assists and tops the Continentals with 17 helpers.
THE ENGINEERS•
Breanainn McNeally leads all players with 31 goals to go along with eight assists. He tied a career-best with five goals against Wesleyan.
Patrick Finn is tied with
Jake Weidner for second on the team with 19 goals, while both Finn and freshman
Matthew Gilman are tied for the team lead with 16 assists.
• Sophomore
David Gibbs has started every game in the net for the Engineers. He has recorded double digit save totals in seven games this season, and is posting an 8.79 goals against average. He was named the USILA Defensive Player of the Week on March 17 after a career-best 19 saves versus Ursinus.
• RPI has allowed just three goals in 33 attempts while on the man-down, and is currently leading all of Division III with a 93.5% conversion rate. Last season, RPI had a 90% conversion rate in man-down situations, which was the best in the nation and also the highest percentage in school history. The Engineers, converted 36-of-40 opportunities.
THE CONTINENTALS• Hamilton stands at 8-6 overall with a 4-6 mark in NESCAC play. The Continentals enter their season finale having lost their last two games, including a 25-6 loss to Tufts on April 11. Hamilton's most recent loss came to Connecticut College, who RPI defeated, 17-3, earlier this season.
• Sam Sweet leads the Continentals with 25 goals and has added 14 assists for 40 total points. Pax Anthos is second on the team with 19 goals, while John Zimmerman leads all players with 17 assists.
• Will Driscoll has started all 14 games in goal for Hamilton. He is currently posting a 10.20 goals against average and a .595 save percentage.
