Men's Lacrosse Closes Out Regular Season with 19-1 Win Over Bard

TROY, N.Y. -- John Nolan scored five goals, while ten other players scored at least once, as Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) defeated Bard, 19-1, in Liberty League men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon. To conclude the regular season, the Engineers stand at 10-5 overall, with a 4-3 mark in league play, while Bard falls to 3-11 on the season and 1-6 in the conference.

RPI got on the board first on a goal by Nolan (East Hampton, NY / East Hampton), his first of the season, at 12:26 of the first quarter. Bard evened the game at 1-1 with an unassisted score by Henry Blosfelds (Delran, NJ / Valley Forge), but that was the only scoring the Raptors would see on the day. Nolan added his second goal in the first quarter off an assist from Scott Crow (Darnestown, MD / Bullis School), while Patrick Finn scored twice before the end of the quarter.

Crow, who finished with five points on two goals and three assists, scored his first of the day at 6:26 of the second quarter. Casey Colligan (Baldwinsville, NY / CW Baker) handed out one of this three helpers on the day on Crow's goal.

In the third quarter, the Engineers scored three straight man-up goals. Finn completed his hat trick with 12:26 left to play in the quarter off an assist from Colligan. Breanainn McNeally (Severna Park, MD / Archbishop Spaulding) scored his second of the day at 8:42 with a helper from Crow, who finished up the rally at 6:01, taking an assist from colligan.

Four players scored their first goals of the season in the fourth quarter, including senior Alex Lewek (Burnt Hills, NY / Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake), who wrapped up the scoring with an unassisted tally at 2:10. Kyle Riccardi (Brewster, MA / Brewster) handed out his first two assists of the season in the quarter, helping Matt Krecicki (Winter Park, FL / Winter Park) to his first goal of the year, and later passing off to Nolan on his fourth goal of the game. Nolan wrapped up his day with a tally at 5:56, taking an assist from Zachary Lukas (Longmeadow, MA / Longmeadow), who followed with a goal of his own at 3:30.

The Engineers outshot Bard, 53-11, in the game, and won 14-of-24 faceoffs, led by Oliver Kaija (Woodstock, VT / Woodstock Union), who went 6-for-10 at the X. Senior Finn Hadlock (Freeport, ME / North Yarmouth Academy) won 5-of-8 faceoffs for RPI. Rensselaer used three goalkeepers in the game, with starter David Gibbs (Stony Brook, NY / Ward Melville) getting the win. Parker Smith (Cordova, TN / IMG Academy) played 30 minutes, making one save, while Troy Manchester (Niskayuna, NY / Niskayuna) recorded three saves. John Henry Glascock (East Brunswick, NJ / East Brunswick) played the full game for the Raptors, recording 18 saves.

RPI, which will miss the Liberty League tournament due to a tiebreaker with Clarkson, will await a possible at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
