NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - Junior
Cori Winslow scored the game's only goal in the 96th minute to lift the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over SUNY New Paltz, Saturday morning in non-league action. With the win, the Engineers improve to 3-2-2, while the Hawks drop to 1-6.
RPI finally broke the deadlock in overtime, when sophomore
Dali Alarian (Folsom, CA/Vista del Lago) dribbled up the left flank and sent a cross in that was put home by Winslow (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa). The goal was Winslow's first of the year.
The Engineers out-shot New Paltz 13-7, including 7-4 in the second half. Sophomore goalkeeper
Tori Riopelle (Ashburn, VA/Briar Woods) earned her second shutout of the season, making five saves. Winslow finshed with a game-high five shots, including four on goal.
Rensselaer is back on the field on Tuesday, when it visits Mount Holyoke (6pm). The Hawks travel to Vassar on Tuesday (4pm).
