Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey | | St. Lawrence Sports Information

No. 4 St. Lawrence Tops W. Hockey

Four different goal scorers pace Saints to 4-1 win

Four different players scored goals to lead the fourth-ranked St. Lawrence University women's hockey team to a 4-1 win over Rensselaer, as the Saints improved to 10-0-1 overall and 5-0-0 in ECAC Hockey games. The Engineers drop to 4-8-1 (2-3-0 ECAC Hockey).

Kennedy Marchment scored a goal and had two assists, and Amanda McClure, Brooke Webster and Justine Reyes also had multiple-point nights, as all three recorded a goal and an assist.

Marchment started the Saints' first scoring play with a pass from behind the Engineers' net that was redirected by Webster right to McClure at the the left faceoff circle. McClure fired a short-side shot past RPI goaltender Lovisa Selander for her first goal of the season.

Reyes gave the Saints a two-goal lead less than four minutes later, curling around from behind the net and sniping a wrist shot from a tough angle over Selander's shoulder for her fourth goal of the season. McClure and Kayla Vespa got the assists on the play.

RPI's Whitney Renn cut the lead to one with a quick shot through a screen from the right circle with less than five minutes to play in the second period, but the Saints once again struck quickly in the third, as Marchment set up Webster with a feed in the slot to give the Saints a 3-1 lead just 38 seconds into the period. Marchment put the game away with a power play goal with less than five minutes to play.

St. Lawrence's Grace Harrison, named the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week earlier this week, made 10 saves to improve to 10-0-1, while Selander made 30 saves for the Engineers.

RPI is back on the ice tomorrow, when it visits No. 7 Clarkson (3pm), while the Saints host Union (3pm).
