GAMEDAY: The Engineers (1-1) play their first Liberty League contest, hosting RIT (2-0), the third-ranked team in Division III, at East Campus Stadium (1pm).

LAST SATURDAY: Breanainn McNeally scored with 5:26 to play in the fourth quarter to break a 7-7 tie and the Engineers held off No. 18 Ithaca, 8-7, in a non-league contest at East Campus Stadium ... After trailing 6-4 at halftime, RPI scored three third quarter goals and one in the fourth ... McNeally finished with two goals and an assist, Matt Hall had two tallies and Patrick Finn had two assists ... David Gibbs stopped seven shots ... Scott Sidnam made eight saves for Ithaca.

PHILLIPS HONORED: The reigning Liberty League men's lacrosse Defensive Performer of the Week is Rensselaer's John Phillips ... In RPI's lone game last week, he not only helped the Engineers hold the Bombers to seven goals, he played against Ithaca's top scorer - who entered the game with 11 points (9 goals, 2 assists) in two games - and held him off the scoresheet and without a single shot ... Phillips also had a game-high (tied) three ground balls, two caused turnovers and a shot in Rensselaer's 8-7 victory.

SEASON OPENER: Keene State rallied from a 6-0 deficit to post a 14-12 win over No. 20 Rensselaer last Saturday ... The Owls tied the game in the early minutes of the third quarter but Matthew Gilman and Breanainn McNeally scored to give RPI a 10-8 lead ... Keene State scored the next four goals and did not relinquish the lead from that point ... McNeally had four goals, Gilman scored three times with two assists and JT Kelly tallied three times for the Engineers ... David Gibbs finished with 18 saves for RPI, while Mat Howe had 17 on the other end.

BROTHERHOOD: Rensselaer features a pair of brothers on its roster in Billy and David Gibbs ... Billy is a senior midfielder and David is a junior goaltender ... Jacob Shavel is a freshman midfielder, joining the program a year after his brother Aaron graduated ... Aaron had a goal against RIT last season as a senior.

2016 ENGINEERS: Rensselaer's roster includes 16 freshmen, 11 sophomores, eight junior and seven seniors.

CAPTAINS: This year's team leaders are seniors Ryan Brisson, Billy Gibbs, Pat Hogan and John Phillips ... Hogan and Phillips were captains last season, while Brisson and Gibbs are in their first seasons in that role at RPI.

2015 VS RIT: Allister Warren and Eddie Kiesa each scored four goals to lead RIT to an 18-8 win over RPI in Rochester last April ... Jake Weidner had three goals, while Breanainn McNeally and Matt Hall scored twice for the Engineers ... David Gibbs had 15 saves in defeat and Pat Johnston made eight saves on the other end of the field.

RIT TO DATE: The Tigers opened the season with an 18-9 win at No. 7 Stevenson behind an eight-goal effort from Ryan Lee ... They then defeated Montclair State, 11-4, at home before knocking off No. 12 SUNY Cortland, 12-9, on Wednesday ... Lee scored three times and Braden Wallace twice against the Red Dragons.

UPCOMING: The Engineers head to the West Coast to play at Whittier College in California for a non-league game while on Spring Break ... Game time is 10pm Eastern.
