WHITTIER, Calif. - Juniors Breanainn McNeally and Matt Hall combined for 10 goals and 12 points to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) to a 17-9 victory over Whittier College. McNeally scored six times with an assist, while Hall had four goals and an assist to help the Engineers improve to 2-2. The Poets fall to 3-2.

Rensselaer jumped out to a 6-1 lead through the first quarter, headed by two goals and an assist from McNeally. After Whittier made it 6-2 at 13:05 of the second, McNeally answered under a minute later and Patrick Finn made it 8-2 with 12:33 to play in the half. Six of RPI's eight goals at that point had been assisted - from six different players.

The Poets scored three of the next four goals to pull within four goals, 9-5, but Hall's second of the game made it 10-5 for the visitors with 2:03 to play, just 42 seconds after Whittier's fifth marker.

Coming out of halftime with a 10-6 lead, McNeally scored twice in the third quarter for a 12-6 lead and Hall once again countered a Poets goal for a 13-7 edge at 13:19 of the fourth quarter. RPI outscored Whittier 4-2 from that point to finish with 17 goals - its season-high this year.

Thirteen different players had points for the Engineers, including freshman Lucas Bastarache, who had three assists. Junior David Gibbs finished with 11 saves and Parker Smith stopped two shots. Two goalies combined for four saves for the Poets.
