GAMEDAY (Jan. 21, 2017): The Engineers (10-7; 4-3 Liberty League) saw their three-game home winning streak snapped Friday ... RPI can close out the regular season with another three-game winning streak, which will have to start on Saturday against conference foe Union (7-7; 3-3).

FRIDAY'S ACTION: The Engineers hosted Skidmore and lost to the Thoroughbreds, 82-61 ... Union hosted Bard and defeated the Raptors, 83-56.

RPI VS. SKIDMORE: Skidmore shot 76 percent from the floor in the first half, including 64.3 percent from three-point range, to take a 51-27 lead at halftime and the Thoroughbreds went on to defeat Rensselaer, 82-61 ... Senior Jonathan Luster had 16 points on 7 of 9 shooting with four rebounds for the Engineers, who got 12 points from Andreas Kontopidis and 10 from Tom Horvat.

UNION VS. BARD: Wade McNamara had 16 points and 11 rebounds and Deshon Burgess scored 21 points as Union defeated Bard College, 83-56 in Schenectady ... McNamara's 11 rebounds were a game high and Burgess made nine of 12 shots for the Dutchmen, who had just 10 turnovers while shooting 53 percent ... Matt Liquori scored seven off the bench ... Eleven different players scored for Union.

PLAYOFF POSITION: Hobart, Rensselaer, Union, Clarkson and RIT are all in a battle for the third and fourth place spots in the Liberty League standings ... The top four teams qualify for the league's post-season tournament. 

TUESDAY NIGHT: Jonathan Luster scored 23 points, Andreas Kontopidis tallied 20 and RPI shot 53% from the floor in defeating Vassar, 69-58, in a Liberty League contest ... The Engineers made 26 of 49 shots, including 10 of 20 from three-point range, while holding the Brewers to 39% (25 of 63).

BOUNCE BACK: RPI's win over Vassar snapped its modest two-game losing streak.

LAST WEEKEND: Hobart used stout defense and a balanced offense to defeat RPI, 67-52 ... Rensselaer got a game-high 17 points from Tom Horvat, who was 3-of-6 from 3-point range ... Andreas Kontopidis scored 12 points ... RIT's AJ Horde scored with five seconds to play in regulation to give RIT the lead and then had a steal on RPI's next possession to preserve the victory, 63-61 ... Horvat led Rensselaer with 15 points, while Jonathan Luster added 12 points and eight rebounds.

LAST YEAR: Union defeated RPI, 73-65, on January 8 (Schenectady) and 78-73 on February 13 (Troy).
