Men's Hockey Faces Clarkson in Lake Placid Saturday

Engineers to play in historic Herb Brooks Arena (7pm)

HALLOWED ICE
The Engineers travel to Lake Placid on Saturday to face Clarkson at Herb Brooks Arena in a non-league game (7pm) ... RPI then resumes ECAC Hockey play next weekend, hosting No. 4 Harvard and Dartmouth on Friday (7pm) and Saturday (7pm), respectively.

LAST TIME IN LAKE PLACID
Rensselaer's last visit to Lake Placid came during the 2011-12 season, when it fell to Union College, 5-2, on December 10, 2011.

NO. 6 LOWELL DOWNS RPI
UMass Lowell built a 4-0 lead before holding off Rensselaer, 5-1, on Tuesday night ... Nick Master and Jake Kamrass each had a goal and an assist for the visiting River Hawks, while Viktor Liljegren netted the lone RPI tally ... Chase Perry had 32 saves for the Engineers.

ENGINEERS FALL AT HARVARD
Rensselaer returned to the ice after a 20-day layoff on Friday and fell at No. 4 Harvard, 5-1 ... Five different players found the scoresheet for the Crimson, while freshman Jacob Hayhurst netted the lone RPI tally – an unassisted goal at 7:46 of the second period ... Cam Hackett made 33 saves for the Engineers, while Merrick Madsen had 30 stops for Harvard.

MODEL OF CONSISTENCY
Dating back to last season, senior captain Riley Bourbonnais has at least one point in 24 out of 28 weekends ... His scoreless trip to Quinnipiac and Princeton was his first and only fruitless weekend in nine this year.

ALL-TIME VS. CLARKSON
RPI is 50-89-11 overall against Clarkson all-time ... The 89
losses are the most the Engineers have suffered against
any time in school history ... Prior to this season, the last six meetings have been split evenly, 2-2-2, with both Rensselaer wins coming in the 2014-15 playoff series in Potsdam.

BIG THIRD PERIOD LIFTS CLARKSON
Clarkson scored three goals in the third period to top the Engineers, 5-2, on November 11 at the Houston Field House ... Troy Josephs, Nico Sturm and Haralds Egle all tallied in the final stanza to break a 2-2 tie after two periods ... For RPI, sophomore Brady Wiffen netted his first collegiate goal in the first period, while junior blueliner Jared Wilson scored his team-leading sixth goal of the year in the second ... Sophomore goaltender Chase Perry had 35 saves on 40 shots for Rensselaer.

2015-16 VS. THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS
Clarkson took the season series, 1-0-1, in 2015-16, earning
a 2-2 tie at home on November 6, 2015, before upending
the Engineers, 4-2, in Troy on February 6, 2016.

SPECIAL TEAMS
The Engineers enter the week's action with the fifth-best power play in ECAC Hockey at 17.9% (19 for 106) ... RPI's 19 power play goals are second most in the league ... The penalty kill comes in at 81.7% (94 for 115).

CAPTAINS SCORING
Senior captains Riley Bourbonnais (2 goals) and Jimmy DeVito (2 goals) each netted goals against Yale and Brown on December 9 and 10.

STREAKS SNAPPED
Juniors Viktor Liljegren (2 goals, 3 assists) and Mike Prapavessis (1 goal, 4 assists) both saw their three-game point streaks snapped last Friday at Harvard.

TOP SCORING DEFENSEMAN
Junior defenseman Jared Wilson leads the nation in goals by a defenseman with eight ... His 11 points rank ninth among ECAC Hockey blueliners.

FIRST GOALS
Three RPI skaters have recorded their first collegiate goals ... Sophomore Brady Wiffen netted his first against Clarkson on November 11, freshman Patrick Polino potted his first against St. Lawrence on November 12, before Jacob Hayhurst tallied his first in the Cherry & White against Ohio State on November 19.

SHORTHANDED GOALS
RPI's three shorthanded goals are good for 23rd in the nation ... Senior Riley Bourbonnais' two shorties are tied for second in the country, behind Union's Mike Vecchione and Minnesota's Justin Kloos, who have three apiece.

POINT LEADERS
Sophomore Evan Tironese has a team-high 20 points on four goals and 16 assists ... Senior captain Riley Bourbonnais (9 goals, 6 assists) has 15 points, while freshman Jacob Hayhurst (5 goal, 7 assists) has 12 ... Junior Jared Wilson (8 goals, 3 assists) lead all blueliners with 11.
