Albany, N.Y. - The Sage Colleges' women's basketball team hosted the Engineers of RPI in the team's 2017-18 home opener on Tuesday night in Kahl Gym and the Gators posted a 70-58 win to spoil Rensselaer's perfect season as the Gators improve to 2-1 and RPI drops to 3-1.
Sage held a 35-29 lead at the break as senior forward Genevieve Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) had nine points and seven rebounds. She was a perfect 5-5 from the line in the first half. By game's end, she had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Junior guard Emily Parslow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) added eight points with four assists in the first half and lead all players with her 18 points. A trio of Gators had six points in the first half, junior guard Macie Holmes (Amsterdam, NY/Mekeel Christian Academy), junior Kaitlin Bowman (Dannemora, NY/Saranac), and sophomore Gessica Patregnani (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh). Â By game's end, Bowman had 10 points with 14 rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal.
RPI's junior forward LaKissa Martin (Las Vegas, NV/Rancho) led the Engineers in the first half with nine points and had a pair of three-point baskets. Junior guard Elizabeth Eckhardt (Albany, NY/Guilderland) had six points at the intermission with a pair of steals.
By game's end, junior guard Sam Krumbhaar (Glen Burnie, MD/North Country) led RPI with 14 points and seven rebounds. Eckhardt added six points in the second half en route to her 12 point effort with two steals and an assist. Martin had 11 points while senior forward Shaina Iton (Peekskill, NY/Peekskill) added 10 points with seven boards.
Sage returns to action on November 26 traveling to SUNY-Polytechnic for a 2 p.m. non-conference game. RPI is back in action on November 27 traveling to Keene State for a 6 p.m. non-conference match-up with the Owls.
