Men's Hockey Takes on Maine in Friendship Four Consolation

CONSOLATION GAME
Rensselaer faces Maine in the Consolation Game of the 2017 Friendship Four Tournament at SSE Arena on Saturday ... Puck drop against the Black Bears is set for 3pm local time (10am Eastern Time). No. 5 Clarkson and No. 10 Providence will play for the tournament title at 7pm.

THIRD FRIENDSHIP FOUR
The 2017 Friendship Four will be the third running of the event ... UMass Lowell was victorious in the inaugural tournament, while Vermont took home the Belpot Trophy last season.

HOW THEY GOT HERE
Rensselaer fell to No. 5 Clarkson, 2-0, in the Friendship Four opener on Friday afternoon, while the Black Bears dropped their matchup with No. 10 Providence, 3-0, last night.

ALL-TIME VS. MAINE
The Black Bears own a narrow 6-5-0 lead in the all-time series, which dates back to February 3, 1979 – a 5-4 Maine win in Orono ... RPI won four straight from January 14, 1982 to November 27, 1993 – the Engineers' most recent victory.

RECENTLY
Maine has won the last four meetings, including the first two games of the 2016-17 season ... The Black Bears swept RPI, 5-1 and 4-2 on October 7 and 8 of last year.

FOR THE BLACK BEARS
Maine is led offensively by freshman Eduards Tralmaks (5 goals, 3 assists) and sophomore Chase Pearson (8 assists), who have eight points each ... Sophomore Mitchell Fossier (4 goals, 3 assists) and junior Rob Michel (2 goals, 5 assists) have seven points apiece.

MAINE GOALTENDING
Freshman Jeremy Swayman (3-2-0) has a 2.71 goals against average and a .919 save percentage in six games (5 starts) ... Junior Rob McGovern (1-4-0) has a 4.47 goals against average and an .875 save percentage in five starts.
